Demisemiquaver at Eyedrum

Reese is excited to join fellow musician Caleb Herron and Swiss critic, scholar and lecturer Christian Hänggi to present a partially improvised musical lecture on the matter of music in the novels of Thomas Pynchon at Eyedrum Art and Music Gallery in downtown Atlanta. The lecture with its musical accompaniment, is properly entitled "The Harmonica, the Kazoo, and the Saxophone: Pynchon’s Lessons in Organology."

Christian Hänggi, the presenter, is a doctoral candidate in Zurich, and himself lightly infamous for his attentive accounting of the late Karlheinz Stockhausen, very specifically on the question of the 9/11 attacks in the US. Stockhausen, the great electronic composer, had described these attacks in Germany -- in public and to great public distress -- as a manner of gesamtkunstwerk, or total work of art.

Hänggi has now agreed to present his up-to-the-minute work on the topic of Pynchon: one of America's most resiliently disillusioned authors.
